Baker’s Twine Trio!

2 Jul

Just wingin’ it.  That’s my style for nearly everything.  This project was no different.  I got done with work, trudged downstairs and started flipping through things, not sure what I wanted to do.  It pains me to grab a brand new 12×12 sheet of patterned paper to make a card, so I made 3 instead of one to justify it lol.  It all started with the turtle, and ended up being what you see below.

Patterned paper-Cosmo Cricket “Girl Talk”, Little Yellow Bicycle, Pink-Bazzill Basics, Punch-Martha Stewart, baker’s twine-House of Three, white opaque embossing powder-Stampendous, turtle-Sticko

This card was first-I felt like I hadn’t used the kid quote stamp in a long time, and of course the turtle is smiling so I thought it was appropo.  There seemed to be too much negative space on the green piece so I added the marigold strip.

I still really love the Martha Stewart butterfly 3-in-1 punch-its a great tool to use when your project just needs “something” but you’re not quite sure what that “something” is.  This was just playing with scraps.  I never follow sketches in the traditional sense, but I’ve watched so many tutorials and browsed so many galleries, I’m sure I’ve seen this somewhere before.  The baker’s twine wasn’t cooperating with me so I just wrapped it a couple times and tied it.

This definitely ended up being my favorite.  I think I was delirious at this point from lack of sleep because I decided to try something I’ve never done before and stitch over a handwritten word.  I wrote in pencil, punched an even line of holes, erased the pencil marks, then back-stitched the whole thing.  This is a great mindless project for in front of the tv (or in my case, a laptop and netflix).  I used the butterfly + button just for some continuity.

These are absolutely fabulous! The stitched Hello card is also my favorite.

I’m totally scrap lifting (or is it card lifting) these. 🙂
