More pastel-y goodness from the Neapolitan line!

This card was definitely inspired by Kristina Werner’s “heart flower” creation here.

Dear Lizzy Weekly Planner

24 Feb

The latest Dear Lizzy collection from American Crafts, Neapolitan, is definitely one of those collections that I simply cannot allow to sit around collecting dust.  Its just so…pretty.  I used it to make a weekly dry-erase planner.  I figured with it getting a little busier around here, I should have something more detailed and more visual compared to the monthly calendar.  The base is simply a 12×18 inch acrylic poster frame.

(My favorite part about this project?  All of the strips of patterned paper are actually the branding strips from the 12×12 sheets…meaning I get to hoard the actual paper while still putting out a pretty, fun, and functional piece of home decor.)

I’m thinking I should paint and distress the black pieces holding the whole thing together.  That or ditch them altogether in favor of binder clips covered in patterned paper/twine.  Any thoughts?

Happy Birthday Dad!

20 Feb

Okay, so my dad’s birthday was a month ago, but I’m just getting around to posting this now.  I busted out a Stampin’ Up set that I’ve been impatiently waiting to use for this very occasion.

Label punch-Stampin’ Up; patterned paper-Basic Grey “Life of the Party”

Inside reads: “Happy Birthday to a Classic”

the Zig Zag returns…

19 Feb

This is another card that was born from the mess on my table.  That must be why I’m such a slob-I’m inspired by the chaos!  …I’m going to have to come up with a name for that.  I’ve been doing it quite often.

Hero Arts-Zig Zag; yellow ink-Stampin’ Up; scalloped heart punch-EK Success; tape-ki Memories “Hot Date tape”

the Busy Stork

18 Feb

Well, you know I had to make cards for all those people having babies 🙂  Lawn Fawn “Plus One”; Copics; Hero Arts “Zig Zag”  “Plus One” is the very first Lawn Fawn set I discovered.  And now I’m completely hooked on this brand!

Signed, Sealed, Delivered…

14 Feb

I’M YOURS!  (in my best Stevie Wonder voice.)  You’re welcome for getting that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

One of the many tools in my crafty arsenal (and probably yours too) is the dollar bin at Target.  I love Target.  A lot.  Mostly because of finds like this:

There are about 2 billion ways you can decorate these-to prove it, just google “Target mini mailbox”.  Here is my version.  These would be so much cuter for kids, personalized to use as a Valentine holder, but I have no kids, so my manfriend will have to accept this (don’t worry, he’s as dorky as I am).

Heart patterned paper-Target; envelope patterned paper-Pebbles?;  twine-the Twinery Maraschino; heart letter stickers-Reminisce; “You Rock” stamp-Amy Tangerine for American Crafts; postage stamp edge punch, blue ribbon punch-Fiskars; scalloped heart-EK Success.

Happy Valentines Day!

You Fog My Spectacles

13 Feb

Oh, for the love of Google Reader.  I honestly don’t know what I would do without it anymore.  I also love Fossil.  They featured an artist on their blog, Nicole Martinez, who might be my new favorite.  She has a shop on Etsy called Nerdy Dirty and all of her prints make me giggle.  Go check her out!  I normally am normally not a fan of duplicating images so literally, but sometimes…well, you can’t mess with perfection.

Here was my inspiration:

Nicole Martinez

Here is my little 3×3 card, using Lawn Fawn’s “Clear to See” and a super old Fiskars heart punch.

I added some twine from the Twinery, and the hearts are adhered and covered with Glossy Accents.  Looking at it now (waaay after the fact) I think I want to emboss the glasses in black, and add some rhinestones to the corners to make them a little more retro.  I also might have to try this with the other specs from that stamp set.  Inside reads: You fog my spectacles.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

10 Things On the 10th: What I did instead of blogging the last month…

10 Feb

1. Received a fun package in the mail from our wedding photographer…its getting closer!!!

2. Went to my sister’s college graduation party, celebrated her first “big kid” job.

3. Made a fun mini-album for said sister using the program from the commencement ceremony, documenting her graduation weekend in December.  (I’ll have to steal it back sometime to show you the whole thing.)

4. Met my friend’s newborn baby girl!

5. Went to another friend’s uber-cute baseball-themed baby shower.

6. …while another friend announced her pregnancy, I reflected on the fact that I’m perfectly content waiting to have kids, considering there are plenty around me that I could borrow for the day.  lol

7. Celebrated my dad’s birthday!

8. Watched the Superbowl with my cousins (an annual tradition even though I know nothing about football, nor do I care.)

(Yes, we are well aware that the bears did not play, and that baseball bats are not required in football.)

9.  Finally decided on wedding reception centerpieces, followed by trips to 11 different thrift stores to collect 141 single-stem milkglass vases.

10.  Enjoyed 2 honest-to-goodness sunny, cloudless winter days in a row!  (The only ones so far this winter!)  Kitties were very happy to make use of all skylights and patio doors.

Be sure to go check out the other lists at!

ps expect more posts from me-I’ve got photos for at least 4 backed up and waiting to be shared.

“Smooch” Pt. II

7 Jan

Oh, and did I also mention I also found a doily stamp set from Inkadinkado?

The tiny hearts on the larger square white card are from various Lawn Fawn sets.

Enjoy this freakishly warm “winter” weekend!

*note-check out this card made by the lovely Kristina Werner using the same set!  Thanks for the inspiration KWerner!

My First AE Stamps

6 Jan

…and I’m definitely getting good use out of them so far!

I’ve seen a lot of Ali Edwards stamps in other people’s work

I wasn’t quite sure if I would like them…

…But who can’t resist a fun, simple, sweet sentiment now and then?

I think I was inspired by the Stampin’ Spots set that has been traveling in my scrap bag for the past week.  I’m pretty sure if these don’t qualify as CAS (clean-and-simple), I don’t know what does.

“Smooch” by Studio AE and Technique Tuesday

Stay tuned tomorrow for the Valentine (or just random love-y) set I made with the same stamps.  (Tease!!!)
